Making dill pickles in the Hawerchuk household has been a family tradition every summer for the last thirty years. We always gather the freshest local cucumbers, dill and garlic and work until every jar is sealed. The sweet aroma of fresh dill and garlic fill the house and is always a welcoming scent. Dale took great pride in sharing a jar with his friends and family. Unfortunately, he left us far too soon and passed away in August of 2020. We have decided to continue this family tradition and we are proud to name the pickles after him. We hope you enjoy these fine pickles and can share them with your loved ones, just as we always have.
Who was Ducky?!
Dale Hawerchuk, also known as "Ducky", was a Hockey Hall of Famer and was often referred to as the "approachable superstar". Dale spent 16 years in the NHL playing for the Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers respectively. After hockey, Dale spent time as a family man and running a horse farm in Hockley Valley Ontario alongside his wife Crystal and their three children Eric, Alexis and Ben. When time allowed, Dale loved to make pickles with his family and always spoke about creating a pickle company. After his passing in 2020, the Hawerchuk family decided to pursue that pickle company dream and so Ducky's Dills was born.
